There's one thing I always wanted to do before I quit...retire!

========================

All drivers and software are the latest builds....

I haven't been using Vista for long and I must admit that the "WOW!" factor came years ago with the advent of Windowblinds and not with Vista. Also please excuse me if I'm only stating the obvious!

My issue resides in that the text of some programs, i.e. Kaspersky Int Sec. and TweakVI appears corrupted, in fact illegible. I have included the applications under "change application look" and are now not skinned, hence, now legible. Even the slider text for colour support in WB Config is distorted, ghosting. Everything appears fine if I unload WB. The symptoms appear under any skin.

I have checked Visual Settings for best visual appearance and enabled/disabled cleartype to no effect.

I apologize for my ignorance but can I also take this opportunity to ask the following:

I take it that with Vista, I'm unable to have a compact startmenu? In view of text in the right panel instead of icons. Sorry if my geographical descriptions are perplexing!

The situation is worsened as my favourite skins don't look that good with Vista's shut/logoff buttons.

Just one final thing. I promise it's the last question!    With XP, whenever the taskbar was unlocked an extra line was added all across. I found this helpful, as it differintiated the taskbar from a maximized window. It also adds to a skin looking better. Now with Vista, with some skins, there isn't that subtle difference.

Apologies again for this shopping list and also for my comments in case they appear as idiosyncracies.

Thank You!

Kindest regards

Some of the things you've mentioned seem to be caused by the fact that the skins you're using weren't designed "For Vista". They were designed for XP and since Vista is very different in layout some things won't be perfect. Only way to change this is to wait on the new skins built for Vista specifically. I have a feeling that once WB5.5 is final (holding my breath for next week) more devs will probably go back and update their "popular" skins to work with Vista as well.

At the moment we are waiting for SkinStudio for Vista to be released then we can start skinning! WB makes a good attempt at getting XP skins working on Vista, but, as you have noticed, one or two things aren't quite right or missing.

You'll see a lot of Vista compatible skins shortly

Could you provide screenshots of the problem?

Skins designed for WB5 should work fine with WB 5.5 on Vista.

What skin are you using?

Thanks so much for replying. The skin I'm presently using is Stardock's Design (Treetog's) "Omega".

Here are the screenshots:
